A suspense and drama film based on a true story about The Boston Globes’ investigative team of reporters known as Spotlight and their journey through uncovering the child abuse and rape crimes by Catholic priests. The film showed how the Catholic church quietly hides the issue and avoids dealing with the so called phenomena.
The director Tom Mccarthy did a great job building up the story as well as the characters. This film is definitely gripping and emotionally intense at its best. I like how the story unfolds and that how terrifying it feels like to be in a very sensitive and vulnerable situation that involves personal beliefs and “what is the right thing to do”.
The acting is impeccable and very involving. I like how all the actors portrayed their role quite well and as if they are the real people behind the story. The storytelling was excellent and it showed how relentless and brave the real people were when they faced the facts and eventually realised how huge the crisis was.
Not only that the story was such a success it also gave important notes about journalism and how important it is to maintain self worth when giving a good and truthful story.
I believe this film has given honor to the people who have fought for the victims of abuse and trauma. As well as for all the child abuse and rape victims everywhere.
