Neerja ★★★☆☆

Short Synopsis:

NEERJA is a taut and emotional hijack thriller based on the true story of Neerja Bhanot, a 23-year-old chief flight attendant on PanAm 73. In 1986, the flight was hijacked by Abu Nidal Palestinian extremists. Neerja’s quick thinking in a terror-filled situation saved the lives of 359 passengers and crew.

Review:

Neerja, an emotionally engaging and effective thriller. Her story was truly inspiring and captivating. The director Ram Madhvani did an amazing job building the intensity during the hijack as well as incorporating drama and heavy emotions through flashbacks and simultaneous scenes both inside and outside the hijacking.

While watching the film, I felt like I was one of the passengers and felt fear and anxiety. It was intense. The lead actress Sonam Kapoor also did an exceptional portrayal of Neerja. She owned the character and was so believable it felt like she was Neerja herself.

The film is truly inspirational and at the same time brought honor to the bravery of Neerja. She is a remarkable woman and a true hero for saving most of the passengers while under extreme crisis and pressure.

I will not be surprised if this film gains many recognition in film festivals across the world.
