THE LEGEND OF TARZAN  ★★★☆☆

As far as the previous Tarzan story goes, this film has had some few changes made. That being said, there is a much modern feel surrounding the movie yet the setting is still during around 1880s. There is also a demonstration of gender equality with Tarzan and Jane as a married couple in that era. A good modern touch to this classic story. I noticed also that Tarzan being John Clayton, Lord Greystoke has appeared to have adapted quite quickly with the civilized world. I have expected of a more strong hold of Tarzan’s wildness despite him adapting to the civilized society of mankind.

Plot-wise there are historical, political and racial issues raised in the film. However, it is still more on the fictional side of things. There is also mixed standards when it comes to the cast’s performances.

Jane ( Margot Robbie)  was quite remarkable, she definitely proves her versatility when it comes to her roles. Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) was not too strong with his character as Tarzan. I have found that there was a lack of chemistry between them as a couple, mainly lacking with him being Jane’s husband. As well as being the man who was brought up by apes, Tarzan did not quite show his wildness throughout the movie and did not seemed fierce enough.

Rom ( Christoph Waltz) has always been a high calibre actor and most especially as a villain. He delivered well in this film and was excellent! George ( Samuel Jackson) was a bit weak too in his portrayal as Tarzan’s side kick. It seemed that the actor played it too comical and did not translate in the movie that well.

Overall, this is an enjoyable fantasy-action film. However it is not as I have expected it to be. The graphics were not as firm and there were scenes that didn’t look that natural. The digital animation was a little bit of a let down for me.
