Love Sarah ★★★
A tragic death reunites estranged relationships. When Sarah sadly dies from a cycling accident, everyone close to her ultimately got together. Mimi, who is Sarah’s mom, Isabella her best friend and Clarissa her daughter. And little did they know that it’s the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
Before Sarah died, she had a dream of opening a cafe with her best friend, Isabella- their life long goal. Love Sarah is a charming film with a modern relatability that’s mainly focused on keeping new friends and reviving old relationships. But before we move on, I wondered if there’ll be a chance for me to really get to know Sarah since she is the centre of the story. From the beginning of the film I craved for a back story and flashbacks of what she was like. Unfortunately, she remained a ghost, and this somewhat held me back from engaging entirely with the film.
Love Sarah is an inspirational film that touches you. But at the same time lacked the full capacity to captivate you, even with the delicious looking and eye-pleasing cakes and pastries. It felt short and unfulfilled for the same reason that as an observer, Sarah was a stranger.
Nevertheless, if you would like a light-hearted and fun film to watch on a lazy weekend, then this is a film for you.
