Like a dream, it goes quietly, fleeting yet unforgettable. Petite Maman is a beautiful film filled with magical realism. One will be captivated by the friendship and mysterious circumstance that brought the two together.

It was such a delight to have seen this film. It takes me back to my childhood, making a friend and just being a kid. Time flows so differently it feels endless, the short moments. Petite Maman is another of Céline Sciamma’s masterpieces. Indeed a genius when it comes to telling a story through a child’s point of view.

The magic in Sciamma’s films is how she encapsulates moments we treasure and expands them in a subtle yet potent manner. And to precisely feel as to how she wanted you to feel, like a child again yourself—genuinely an incredible experience.

Also, one of the most intelligent scripts I have come across in a film—brilliantly written with excellent delivery. I was blown away by how incredibly poetic the conversations were. Indeed an art form.

Ultimately, this film will take you to a beautiful place despite the heaviness surrounding it and offer comfort and warmth at the same time. It is like a love letter given to bid farewell.
