Everybody Wants Some!!★★★★★

(One of my picks for the NZIFF this 2016)

Richard Linklater is probably one of the best writers/directors who’s exceptional in showing the “real life” scenes but without realising you’re inside the film. And it seems as if your life depended on it. So with full cooperation you continue to be inside the movie. He is known for his talent in catching those moments that may seem uninteresting and mundane. However he finds ways in turning them into something really extraordinary. And what a fun ride it turned out to be!

In this film he has done an amazing job which constantly reminds me of his previous great works such as Boyhood and Dazed and Confused, not to mention one of his masterpieces Before Sunrise,Midnight and Sunset. Although this film had alot of high expectations to break, Linklater made it looked like there was none.

He just did the one thing that he is always good at, which is making great films out of the ordinary. And it worked, as always! The casting was spot on too! Everyone seemed they belonged and had good chemistry as if the characters were actually real.

I can probably go on and on about how great this film is however I don’t want to mention any spoilers. There are a few things I can tell you though, setting is in 1980′s, baseball and a group of college boys with three days to waste before school starts. There seems to be endless numbers parties, booze, weed and getting laid–which is probably the first thing on their list.

Although, you might think this sounds like the regular comedy film that you’ve already seen before, but this is definitely not. What I love about this movie is that it showed how being young, wild and free can also be surrounded by affection, kindness and good friendships.

Overall, I was transported back in time and had the best time of my life!
