Film Review:
The Hitman’s Bodyguard is a buddy-comedy film that is, in all its efforts, almost funny. Michael (Ryan Reynolds) and Darius (Samuel Jackson) play as both the antagonist and protagonist in their love-hate affair, where the adage opposite attracts runs through the course of their story.
The story and the plot twist is bland but Samuel Jackson with his guaranteed tough savvy ways keeps us amused. All in all, averagely entertaining, to say the least. There is that predictability in the story which we already know the good guys win at the end. And despite all the action scenes, explosions, and car chases, the film felt dull.
The director Patrick Hughes is also known for his work in The Expendables III and the similar style shows in this film, both in its storytelling, stunts and the massive explosions. If that is something you enjoy watching, this light hearted comedy-action movie would be a treat and could be an option for a date night movie.
